Round two of the DFB Pokal will see FC Saint Pauli taking on Schalke 04 on Tuesday evening. The hosts beat Atlas Delmenhorst 5-0 in the first round. They come into this match in fine form. St. Pauli currently lead 2. Bundesliga with 23 points after 11 matches, two clear of Dusseldorf. They claimed a 2-1 win over Karsruhe over the weekend, which extended their unbeaten record to 12 matches this season. During that time, St Pauli recorded six wins and six draws. The hosts are the only team in the league that are still unbeaten this season. They are also riding a four-match winning streak in home matches, scoring two or more goals in each of those games. As a result, the bookmakers make them the favourites in this one. 

Meanwhile, the 2023-24 season has been something of a nightmare for Schalke so far. They have recorded ten points in their first 11 matches and find themselves in the relegation playoff spot. The Knaves lost four in a row either side of the international break but managed to snap up that run with a 3-2 win over Hannover 96 last weekend. The visitors have failed to win any of their last three away matches, conceding three goals in each of those games. The only win on the road they managed this season came in the last round of this competition when they beat Eintracht Braunschweig back in mid-August. Shalke lost the last match against this opponent 3-1 and will need a massive performance to win this one.
