Kybunpark will host the opening Swiss Super League game of the season for hosts St. Gallen against current Champions, FC Basel on Saturday. Last season, following the regular season (33 games) and end-of-season playoffs (5 games), FC Basel finished as Champions with 73 points, ten clear of Servette in second, with a huge +48 goal difference. St. Gallen, in contrast, finished eighth with 52 points and a -1 goal difference. Despite that, the matches between the two were close, FC Basel winning their home game 2-1, and the other two matches in St. Gallen finishing as score draws (1-1 and 2-2).
