Sporting Kansas City only have two clubs below them in the MLS Western Conference. They are in 12th place but only two points behind visitors Austin FC who are eighth. SKC were in terrible form between February and most of April of this year with no wins in nine games. Since late April their form has picked up considerably. They come into this home game having lost three of their last ten matches. Their current form is good with seven points from their last three MLS matches. They'd had home wins over Portland and Dallas before drawing 1-1 at Vancouver. It was nearly three successive wins but they conceded an 88th minute goal. The Wizards have earned ten points from their seven home MLS games. However, their wins have all come in the last three played on home soil.

Austin FC are in the play-off positions but aren't in the best of form at present. They have suffered defeats in two of their last three MLS matches and also been knocked out of the US Open Cup. In the MLS they have been beaten recently by Houston and Real Salt Lake City. Sandwiched inbetween those two losses, they beat Minnesota 2-1 at home. Away form for Austin FC has seen them lose four out of their seven MLS games with just two wins. Nine of their last 12 away MLS fixtures have been lost by Austin FC.
