by Sridhar | in UEFA Nations League Predictions
One of Spain or France will have a chance to become the first multiple winners of the UEFA Nations League tournament as they meet in the semi-final on Thursday. This will be a one-off match between the two continental giants to be played at the neutral venue of MHPArena in Stuttgart with our prediction of both teams scoring goals. The winner moves to the final in Munich to play the victor of the first semi-final between Germany and Portugal. The loser will play the loser of that first semi-final at this venue.
The rivalry between these sides has been close in recent years, although Spain have edged France out lately. There’s a battle within the battle as two of the best individual footballers of this generation will face off. Spain’s Lamine Yamal and France’s Kylian Mbappe will both look to stamp their authority on the match and provide their team with a decisive cutting edge.
Will the two young forwards light up Stuttgart and give the fans a semi-final this tournament deserves? Who has an edge over the other? Read further for our predictions.

Spain - France: Form Analysis
Spain started in Group A4 of this edition and topped it with five wins and one draw. Their only miss was a 0-0 draw against Serbia, and they were easily one of the best teams in the group stage.
The quarter-finals was a tight affair, though, as the Netherlands held Spain to 2-2 and 3-3 draws in the two legs before prevailing via penalties. That extended their impressive unbeaten run in competitive football to 15 matches (18 when including friendlies).
Spain haven’t lost since a friendly defeat in March 2024.
France were also toppers of their group A2, edging Italy out on overall goal difference. They had four wins and a draw, while their only loss came against Italy.
Les Bleus had a tough time in the quarter-finals against Croatia, losing the first leg 2-0 but bouncing back to win the second leg 2-0. Much like Spain, they also won that tie on penalties, giving this match a distinct impression of being a game between two equal sides.

Spain & France Squad Analysis
Spain made a few omissions to the squad as Ferran Torres and Raul Asencio were left out of the team. They will also be without Dani Carvajal, who’s out with an ACL tear, while Rodri is also out of reckoning.
The Spaniards are likely to play in a 4-3-3 formation, and it would be interesting to see their defensive composition. Robin Le Normand, Pau Cubarsi and Dean Huijsen are likely to fight it out for two starting places. Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams are set to play on the flanks, which makes them a dangerous duo.
Yamal has three goals and an assist in his last four club matches.
The youngster is likely to be the cynosure of this match along with Kylian Mbappe from the French side. Mbappe may have lost the La Liga title to Yamal’s Barcelona while playing for Real Madrid, but ten goals in his last six club matches make him a red-hot player.
Keep an eye out for Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise, who has been a real find this season. He has four goals and five assists from his last five club games, and his passes from the right flank could be threatening. And how about Ousmane Dembele, who's won the Champions League with PSG? His presence perhaps makes this a battle for Ballon d'Or between Dembele and Yamal.

Our Spain vs France Prediction
This has to be one of the most revered rivalries in European football lately, as Spain and France look to become the first multiple winners of the Nations League competition. Spain boasts an amazing record, having not lost a match since a friendly defeat to Colombia last March. That shouldn’t put France away, as Les Bleus won this tournament, defeating Spain, back in the 2020/21 edition. This match could be a close one with both teams likely to give it their all. Our Spain vs France prediction is both teams to score.
Spain vs France - Other Interesting Predictions
Spain wins the match
Spain won 2-1 against France when these sides last met at Euro 2024 and haven’t lost since a friendly defeat last March. Six wins out of their last seven matches in this tournament should give them an upper hand, especially as France were beaten when they last played away from home. Spain could edge out a tight contest.
