The U21 European Championship sees Group B leaders Spain looking to make it two wins from two when they take on third-place Croatia. A week after their senior teams contested the Nations League final, the Spaniards find themselves as favorites yet again to walk away victorious from this clash. Spain, record five-time winners of this competition, kicked off their pursuit of a first title since 2019 with a routine 3-0 win over co-host nation Romania. The result is the latest in a long unbeaten run for La Rojita dating back to the qualifying campaign in November of 2021. The win also got Spain back on track after having drawn their last two friendly games in the buildup to the start of this tournament. Since their exit from the 2021 U21 Euros, Spain has ripped off 15 wins from 18 fixtures which includes a current streak of 11 games unbeaten. Croatia suffered a 2-0 loss to Ukraine in the group stage opener on Wednesday. Croatia are now in a difficult spot, as they will likely need a result from this match to have a chance at progressing to the quarter-finals. They also don’t have the best recent history against their opponents as it was the Spanish that would ultimately knock Croatia out of the 2021 edition of this competition in Slovenia. Croatia have now won only two of their last six fixtures and they come into this one as heavy underdogs.
