Southampton vs Coventry City Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

Southampton face Coventry City in what is going to be a crucial Championshop clash on Tuesday night. The Saints currently lie fourth in the Championship table, 11 points behind Leeds United in third and 12 adrift of Ipswich in the final automatic promotion spot. But Southampton do have two games in hand on those two teams above them, which means they could close the gap to five and six points respectively. Even so, the playoffs looks a certainty for the Saints as things stand, but their recent form is a worry with just two wins in their last seven games, with three defeats and two draws. They have won just one of their last four games at home and have drawn two of their last three games. A 0-0 draw away to Blackburn at the weekend being their preparation for this clash with Coventry.

Mark Robins' Coventry are embroiled in their own playoff battle. Currently, the Sky Blues sit 7th in the Championship table, four points behind Norwich City who occupy the final playoff spot, but Coventry do have a game in hand. They also have the added welcome distraction of an FA Cup Semi Final to look forward to in a couple of weeks when they face Manchester United at Wembley. An excellent 2-1 win over Leeds United at the weekend will have given Coventry a huge boost heading into a run of three away games in the next four Championship games, which will have a huge bearing on whether they can reach the playoffs for the second successive season in the Championship.
