Southampton have shown signs of revival in their recent matches and will be hoping to bag three points when they get to host Aston Villa in their next Premier League game. They go into the game bottom of the league standings with 15 points, 10 behind Villa who are in 11th place. Southampton will be targeting a fourth straight win in all competitions. They are coming from a 2-1 win over Everton in the last game, with James Ward-Prowse scoring a brace to complete a second half comeback. The Southampton skipper has now scored four goals in their last five matches and the team has failed to score in just one of the last five matches. Three of their last five matches have had over 2.5 goals. Their run in the last three matches will be the most they will want to take to this league game, having been dismal in their league performance. Southampton have six losses in their last seven matches.

Aston Villa, on their part, are coming into this game off a 2-1 win over Leeds United and they will be targeting their third win in five matches. They earlier had a shock loss to Stevenage in the FA Cup and Unai Emery needed a response from his charges and he got it. Villa have suffered just one loss in the last six league matches, an improvement that has coincided with Unai Emery’s arrival.
