Could we see a seeding upset in the first round at Wimbledon. 29th seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry has a tough opening match against unseeded Lorenzo Sonego. His opponent reached round four here last year and our prediction is a win for Sonego.

Unseeded opposition will be up next for the winner, either Gabriel Diallo or Benjamin Bonzi.

Lorenzo Sonego was 40 places below his opponent in the last ranking list. He has won two of his five grass court matches played this year. After qualifying for the main draw in Halle, he lost to Ben Shelton in the first round.

Last week saw him defeat Mariano Navone before being beaten in three sets by Miomir Kecmanovic.

Both of his last two matches have included a tie-break, so a side bet on one here could make a profit.

Tomas Martin Etcheverry is more at home on clay with one ATP Tour title won this year. He reached round two here in 2023 and 2024 but suffered a first round exit last year. So far in 2026, he has played two grass court matches in Halle and Eastbourne and lost both of them.

His latest loss was to a possible opponent in the next round, Gabriel Diallo in three sets.
