After suffering defeats in their opening matches of the UEFA Women's Champions League, Benfica and Arsenal enter matchday two searching for their first win. The match will take place at Estadio da Lu. Benfica are 12th in the league standings, while Arsenal are behind in 13th place. Here's our match prediction.
Benfica have made a promising start to the 2025-26 Campeonato Nacional Feminino season. Three wins in their last four games (D1) currently sees them perched at the top of the league standings and are level on points with arch-rivals Sporting Lisbon in second place.
Benfica recorded their third consecutive league win with a 4-1 away victory over Valadares Gaia on Sunday.
The Eagles' focus now shifts to the UEFA Women's Champions League. In their opening match, they squandered a one-goal lead to suffer a narrow 2-1 away defeat against Juventus. That result marked their second consecutive defeat in the competition.
Arsenal, the defending champions, who clinched their second UEFA Women's Champions League title in the previous edition, have made a poor start to the 2025-26 season.
The Gunners have won just three of their last seven matches across all competitions (D2, L2). Included in those defeats was a 2-1 home setback against OL Lyonnes in the UEFA Women's Champions League opener.
Following that result, Renee Slegers' charges defeated Brighton & Hove Albion in an unconvincing 1-0 home victory in the Women's Super League.
