Jannik Sinner is now just two wins away from defending the title he won for the first time last year. The Italian, who has lost just one set on his way to the semi-finals, defeated 10th seed Lorenzo Musetti in the previous round.

He won by the loss of seven games to make it 12 consecutive victories in New York. Currently in second place in the live rankings, Sinner defeated Auger-Aliassime a month ago in Cincinnati.

Though he lost to Sinner in their most recent showdown in dominant fashion, Felix Auger-Aliassime comes into this latest duel confident of an upset. This is because he has the head-to-head advantage over the Italian, having defeated him twice previously.

Auger-Aliassime is having another dominant run at Flushing Meadows and is now just one win away from a first-ever final at a major.

The Canadian, who made the semi-final here in 2021, defeated eighth seed Alex de Minaur 3-1 in the quarter-finals. Now in his eighth semi-final of the season, the 25-year-old has been catapulted to 13th in the live ranking.
