11th placed Sevila host relegation-threatened Espanyol who are 18th in La Liga. The home side have eased their own relegation fears in recent weeks and reached the last four of the Europa League. They had gone seven league and cup games without defeat before losing at home to Girona at the weekend. That also ended a run of four straight wins for Sevilla but they are now ten points above the relegation zone with six games remaining. Sevilla are eight points adrift of the final European competition place but qualification via that route is looking unlikely. They have won six home league games this season with seven points earned from their last four. That's a big improvement as they didn't win their first home league fixture of the season until mid-January. Their six home wins have come in the last nine played.

Espanyol can move out of the drop zone if winning this match. They start the match two points adrift of Almeria and Valencia but really need something from this fixture. Up next for them is Barcelona and they still have to play Atletico Madrid. Both of those matches are at least home fixtures and the weekend saw them get a vital 1-0 home win over Getafe. That was much needed as Espanyol had earned just one point from their last eight league matches. Away form has seen them win three times in La Liga this season but eight matches have been lost. Recent form on the road has been appalling with five in a row being lost with 14 goals conceded. They did get on the scoresheet in each of those matches though. Back Sevilla to win this match.
