Only Rafa Nadal has earned more ranking points in 2022 than Carlos Alcaraz. He's seeded eighth for the Monte Carlo Masters and takes on unseeded Sebastian Korda in the second round. Alcaraz is in the same quarter of the draw as top seed Novak Djokovic and they could meet in the last 16. This year has seen the 18-year-old (not 19 until next month) rise to 11th in the world rankings with tournament victories in Miami and on clay in Rio de Janiero. He's only suffered one loss in his last 17 matches and that was to Nadal in the Indian Wells semi-final. The Spaniard is likely to be a major threat during the European clay court season having won two ATP Tour titles on clay and four on the Challenger Tour circuit. He's played the French Open once and reached the third round.

Sebastian Korda is ranked 42nd in the world but was 87th in March 2021. The American's best performance this year has been a quarter final in Delray Beach, where he lost to eventual winner Cameron Norrie. His most recent tournament was the Miami Masters where he got to the last 32, being beaten by Miomir Kecmanovic. This is his first clay court tournament of the year. He reached the fourth round of the 2020 French Open but this is his first appearance at the Monte Carlo Masters. Korda had a straight sets win over Botic van de Zandschlup in the first round. He won the ATP Tour clay court event held in Emilia-Romagna last year. 2021 also saw him lose to Alcaraz in the NEXTGEN Final, though that was a first-to-four games in a set match. Back over the regular format, go for Alcaraz to win this. Have a side bet on a straight sets victory.
