The Seattle Sounders face off with defending champions LAFC for this single-elimination Western Conference semi-final. Seattle, who finished the regular season as the second seed, have the home field advantage over LAFC who finished third. The Sounders outlasted Dallas after a 1-0 victory in the decisive game three to win the series 2-1. It was the most recent in a season of strong defensive performances which has seen Seattle finish the year with the fewest goals conceded in the MLS at just 32. The Sounders are in fine form at the moment with the 1-0 win over Dallas their third victory in the last four appearances. Additionally, it was the fourth time Brian Schmetzer’s men have kept a clean sheet in their last five fixtures. The hosts have a record this season of 16-11-10 including the playoffs. This includes a 9-6-4 mark at Lumen Field where they have won their last two in a row.

It’s been an up-and-down season for LAFC who haven’t been at the same level as the title-winning 2022 team. LAFC look to be gaining steam at the perfect time as they are now on a five match unbeaten run, four of which have resulted in victories. This current purple patch is arguably LAFC’s best run of form since their 10 match unbeaten run across all competitions all the way back in April.
