Red Bull Salzburg will welcome Austria Vienna in their next Bundesliga match, slated for Saturday. Going into this fixture, the two sides are separated by a point, and below are the match’s stats and our prediction.

The quest to reclaim the Bundesliga title is thus far not going to plan for the hosts. Though with two matches in hand, they can keep hopes elevated. Salzburg will go into the weekend trailing leaders Rapid Vienna by four points.

They are definitely in a good position given the matches in hand but their struggles have been a key point of concern. Salzburg are coming from a 4-0 away win at Wiener Viktoria in the Austrian Cup.

The challenge ahead will be tougher but the hosts will be motivated by having halted a four-match winless run.

Austria Vienna aren’t doing much better either. They can take inspiration from their 2-2 draw with Sturm Graz on Wednesday, having risen from two goals down.

However, their two goals at home only came after Sturm Graz were reduced to nine men. That they couldn’t beat a nine-man side in over 30 minutes should concern the away fans. That marked their third straight winless game.

It will also be a concern coming into this match, that Austria Vienna are winless in the last 19 matches against Salzburg. They’ve tried in recent meetings though, as three of the last four ended in draws.

Austria Vienna’s away form in the Bundesliga doesn’t hold much promise either. Stephan Helm’s side has no win in four straight league matches on the road.
