Monday’s 2026 World Matchplay action kicks off with Ross Smith taking on Kevin Doets. As the odds indicate, there is no clear favourite in this match, which sees us looking to the total legs market for our prediction.
Ross Smith enters the World Matchplay as the number 15 seed. He will be hoping for a better campaign this year, having bowed out of this competition in the opening round in 2025.
Smudger has had a solid season to this point, capturing three PDC titles, including the Players Championships 5 and 20, as well as his maiden European Tour crown at the International Darts Open in May.
Smith lost to Nathan Aspinall in round two of the European Darts Open last week and has won six of his last 10 matches in all competitions.
Meanwhile, Kevin Doets is having a breakout year in 2026, and his performances have earned him a spot in the World Matchplay for the first time in his career.
The Hawk exploded into the winner’s circle by capturing his first career PDC ranking title at the Players Championship 13 in May, defeating Luke Woodhouse 8-5 in the final of that competition.
Diets bowed out of the European Darts Open in Round 3 last week and has also won six of his last 10 matches. He also beat this opponent 6-2 at PC17 back in May.

Our Ross Smith vs Kevin Doets Prediction
While Ross Smith is the seeded player in this match, Kevin Doets is marginally the favourite, given the incredible season he is having, and he will be looking to make a statement on his World Matchplay debut.
However, Smith is never easy to write off entirely, as he has racked up three PDC titles already this year. Matches between these two have been fiercely contested in recent times, and we feel that will be the case in this one as well. Our Ross Smith vs Kevin Doets prediction is over 15.5 legs.
