Romania will begin their preparation for the Euro 2024 Finals this summer with a home game against Michael O'Neill's Northern Ireland. Since taking over a team that had struggled since their golden era of he 1990s, manager Edward Iordanescu has led his team back to a major tournament finals for the first time since Euro 2016. They are unbeaten in 2023, winning six of their ten games and drawing the other four and they have kept an impressive six clean sheets across those ten matches, scoring 16 goals in return.  Their last defeat came at home to Slovenia back in November 2022.

Since shining at Euro 2016, where they did superbly well to reach the knockout phase of that tournament, Northern Ireland have struggled to get anywhere near qualifying for any of the subsequent major international tournaments. Michael O'Neill, the man who led them to Euro 2016 is now back in charge of the team and he will be encouraged with their 2-0 home win over Denmark in their final qualifying game. One positive has been the emergence of Conor Bradley at right full back for Liverpool and Ross McCausland as a striker at Rangers. They've won just three of their last ten games, losing seven and they have conceded 13 goals in those games, scoring just 9.
