Roma - HJK Helsinki: Form Analysis
Jose Mourinho’s side claimed a hard-fought 2-1 away victory, which was surely welcome after two consecutive losses and six goals conceded in the process. It is their Europa League campaign that needs prioritising now, with Roma being poor and losing to Ludogorets in their group stage opener. The Romans looked to have lost their focus, but are still very strong in the league, owing to their excellent four game unbeaten start. Return to the Olimpico should be a joyous affair for the gialorossi, who have lost just once in their last twenty there. HJK took a valuable win over Honka, keeping first place in the Finnish Veikkausliiga, yet with just a two point advantage over Kyla, there will be no resting on there laurels just yet. They were weak and ineffectual losing 2-0 at home to an arguable much better quality-wise Betis side. The Finnish outfit should gain plenty of encouragement from their recent away record, having lost just once in their last seven on the road.
Two men are shining at Roma at the moment. One is Paulo Dybala. The Argentinian scored against Empoli, in what was his third goal in his last four games. The other is Roma’s star man this past two seasons, a man Jose Mourinho revitalised, almost bringing him back from the ashes. Tammy Abraham scored the winner, in what was his second in his last four games, yet Roma are going to need more from their saviour this season, and a home game against HJK seems like the perfect place to start picking momentum. The Romans will be without Darboe, El Shaarawy, Kumbulla, Wijnaldum, Zalewski and probably Zaniolo for this one. For HJK, Anthony Olusanya looks in great form, having scored three goals in his last six. The Finnish side will be without Martic, Moren and Riski for this one.
Roma - HJK Helsinki Key Points
Roma have kept clean sheets in their last three at the Olimpico
HJK have failed to score in two of their last four European games
Five of Roma’s last six wins have come with a clean sheet
Roma picked up a viral win against Empoli and they should be able to overcome HJK’s obstacle as well. The Finnish side look slightly out of their depth in this group, and backing Roma to win to nil.
