Roma face off with Cremonese at the Stadio Olimpico for the quarterfinals of the Coppa Italia. The winner of the tie will face off with Fiorentina or Torino in the semi finals. The Gialorossi fell to a 2-1 defeat against runaway Serie A leaders Napoli at the weekend, which left them sixth in the Serie A standings but just three points from second place, in what is shaping up to be an enthralling top four race. Jose Mourinho’s men now turn their attention to the cup, a priority this season, where they beat Genoa two weeks ago to progress for this stage. The Roman side will gain confidence playing on home turf, having won each of their last three encounters at the Olimpico without conceding, while they have prevailed against Cremonese in four of their previous six home meetings, keeping clean sheets in three of those. 

Cremonese went ahead against Inter but could not maintain their advantage, falling to another defeat, courtesy of a Lautaro Martinez brace. The Cremona outfit are still the only winless team in Serie A, with immediate relegation to the second division looking more than likely at this stage. Nonetheless, their gloomy survival prospects did not stop them from enjoying a night to savour two weeks ago, where they went to Napoli and inflicted a shock penalty shoutout eliminating to the top Italian side this season, booking a ticket to the quarterfinals. They had eliminated Modena before the Partenopei, with those two victories being the only ones this season for Cremonese. On the downside, their away record is poor to say the least, with a solitary win in the last thirteen away games, and they are surely tipped to struggle at the Olimpico.
