Matchday 15 in the French Ligue 1 sees an intriguing matchup between 12th-place Rennes and third-placed AS Monaco. Stade Rennais have opted for a manager swap after a poor start to the season. A 1-0 home loss to Lyon sealed Bruno Genesio’s fate as he made way for former Strasbourg manager Julien Stephen. The 43-year-old has gotten off to a positive start with Les Rouges et Noirs with two wins in his first three matches in charge. The first came in the form of a 3-1 home win over Reims which was followed up with a 3-0 away win over Maccabi Haifa in the Europa League to move top of the group. Rennes most recent outing resulted in a 2-0 away defeat to Marseille, ending the winning streak at two. Still, the hosts should be able to take a lot of confidence from their recent showings, especially as they now return to Roazhon Park where they have posted solid results this season. 

AS Monaco were able to get back to winning ways following a 2-0 home victory over Montpellier last weekend. It was a much-needed response after suffering a demoralizing 5-2 away loss to league leaders PSG in the prior matchday. Monaco now sit in third-place with their 8-3-3 record putting them on 27 points. This has them trailing second-place Nice by two points and leaders PSG by six points. Les Monégasques have done the majority of their best work this campaign on home soil where they have posted a 6-0-1 record and a +11 goal differential. Their production drops off considerably on the road where they have won just two of seven and have a -1 goal differential. It’s Monaco’s defending that sees the biggest change between home and away as they have conceded 15 times on their travels compared to just four at home.
