Rennes look to extend their unbeaten league run to nine matches. They are seventh in Ligue 1 and host Lorient who are down at 16th and battlng relegation. Rennes are only a point behind the sixth place that would take them into next season's Europa Conference League. They can dream higher than that as a Europa League place is only three points away and they're five adrift of Champions League qualification. The home side nearly got a win at PSG in their last match but conceded a 97th minute equalizer. Before that creditable draw at the league leaders, Rennes had won six in a row. Midweek saw them win at Le Puy Foot to reach the semi-finals of the French Cup. Their last three home league games have all been won with seven goals being scored. That makes it six home league victories for the season which is more than Lorient have won in total this season in Ligue 1.

Lorent are in the relegation zone but only on goal difference from Montpellier. Only five league victories have been achieved this season with 11 defeats. Away form is poor with just two wins in 13 league matches and only 12 goals being scored. Both those wins have come in their last two away league matches but against sides in the bottom six. They'd won three games in a row before being beaten at home by Nantes last weekend. We tip Rennes to get an important home win this weekend and boost their European qualification hopes.
