Rennes are seventh in Ligue 1 and in excellent form at present. They host Clermont who are bottom of Ligue 1 and three points from safety. The home side are only a place and four points behind the final European qualifying position. That gap has narrowed in recent weeks as Rennes have won their last five league fixtures. It ddn't go so well for them on Thursday though as they lost 3-0 away at Milan in the Europa League. This game against Clermont looks an easier task. Rennes began their winning run in Ligue 1 with a 3-1 away win at Clermont in late December. Home form has seen them win win five out of 11 with three defeats. Three of the last four have been won and another win looks on the way.

Clermont prop up the table and have gone four league and cup games without a win. Their most recent league fixture produced a 1-1 draw at home to Brest. They'll want to do better than their last away league game as that was lost 4-0 at Lille. Clermont have only won three of their 21 games in Ligue 1 this season with 11 ending in defeat. On the road, they have won two out of ten and lost three of their last four. Only nine away league goals have been scored by them. We tip Rennes to win and be ahead at both half and full time.
