Nigerian champions Remo Stars will have their first taste of Champions League football when they take on their Comoros counterparts Zilimadjou this Sunday. The two will clash in the qualifiers semi-final, with the aggregate winner to take on last season’s finalists, Mamelodi Sundowns in the final round befiore the group stage. Remo Stars have endured a mixed season so far and are coming into this game off the back of a 2-0 loss at Plateau United in the NPFL. That loss broke their unbeaten start to the season.
Zilimadjou aren’t newbies at this stage in the qualification journey. They first featured in the qualifiers back in 2020 but exited at the semi. They were at it again in 2024, drawing Enugu Rangers and so this will not be the first time they face Nigerian opposition.
At the end of it all, Zilimadjou suffered defeat and have never progressed past the semis in the qualification. Records show Zilimadjou have never gone past this stage.
The Comoran champions could go into this match struggling for fitness, with their league having ended in July. Their domestic season doesn’t start until October, so this will be their first competitive match of 2025/26.
