A jam-packed gameweek three in La Liga will see Real Sociedad playing host to Alaves on Wednesday evening. La Real are currently in ninth place after the first two matches of the season while Los Blanquiazules are 17th. Check out our match prediction below. 

After missing out on Champions League qualification last season, Real Sociedad’s main objective will be to find a way to get back into the top two in the Spanish top flight this term. 

La Real have made a mixed start to the 2024-25 La Liga campaign, which began with an unexpected home defeat to Rayo Vallecano on the opening weekend before the side got their first points on the board away to Espanyol last weekend. 

The hosts will now look to return to winning ways on their home patch having lost their last two matches at this venue, including a 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid on the final day of last season. 

Still, Sociedad are heavily fancied in this tie, having maintained a six-match unbeaten record against this opponent dating back to 2020.

Meanwhile, Alaves enjoyed an incredible return to the top flight last season, as they not only remained clear of the drop but also managed to secure a top-half finish of 10th. 

However, Los Blanquiazules have yet to find top gear this season, having lost their league opener 2-1 to Celta Vigo and playing out an underwhelming goalless draw to Real Betis last weekend. 

Alaves’ are understandable underdogs here as they are winless in their last three away league games and have won only one of their last eight top-flight matches on the road.
