Real Oviedo are in Playoff contention for a second season in a row, but with just five points separating the top five teams, they could still earn automatic promotion to the top flight. 

Los Azules enter this match in good form, currently unbeaten in their last seven league matches (W4 D3 L0), with the most recent ending in a 1-1 draw away to Racing Santander.

At home, the hosts are riding a three-match win streak and are unbeaten in their last four, while they also maintained clean sheets in their last two games on home soil. 

In contrast, Real Zaragoza’s focus for the remainder of the campaign will be avoiding the drop, as they enter matchday 40 just five points above the dotted line. 

However, they are on an upward trajectory, having secured a 3-2 victory over FC Cartagena last week, which took them to three games unbeaten.

The visitors won their last away game 2-1 against Racing Ferol, but that result followed a five-match winless run, during which they conceded two or more goals in each game.
