Second-place Rangers host 11th-placed Ross County for this rescheduled matchday 20 in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday. The hosts can potentially leapfrog eternal rivals Celtic for the top spot in the standings with a victory here. They currently trail the current league leaders by three points with a game in hand advantage. Rangers are coming off a 2-0 victory over Ayr in the Scottish Cup on the weekend to advance to the quarter-finals. Their last appearance in the SPL resulted in a 2-1 home victory over Aberdeen with Todd Cantwell scoring the eventual winner in the 72nd minute of play. The Gers have now won their last six on the bounce across all competitions including their last five straight in the Premiership. It’s hard to see past Rangers recording a relatively comfortable victory over a struggling Ross County team with how they have been playing. The hosts have notched 12 goals while conceding just twice in their last five Scottish league matches.

Ross County are involved in a relegation scrape although they have a decent cushion over bottom-placed Livingston. They’ll be aiming to overtake 10th-placed St. Johnstone, who they currently trail by five points, to avoid a relegation playoff. Despite the gap between them, Ross County have a two games in hand advantage while still having the opportunity to catch them when the table splits. Unfortunately for the visitors, they are in a horrid stretch of form at the moment and don’t look likely to turn things around with this difficult fixture. The Staggies are coming off a heavy 5-0 away loss to Motherwell last Tuesday, their fifth defeat in the last six matches. Additionally, Ross County find themselves on a nine match winless run with only two of those games ending in draws and the other seven in defeat. Their attack has completely stalled and has failed to find the net in seven of their last nine fixtures.
