The Champions League qualifying campaign enters into the second round with Scottish Premiership runners-up Rangers taking on Greece’s Panathinaikos. Both the Gers and the Shamrock will be hoping to secure a win in the first of this two-legged fixture. Read on for our match prediction!
For the visitors, they earned their spot in the second qualifying round after finishing second in the Super League Greece last year. This will be the first competitive fixture of the 2025-26 season for Panathinaikos, who posted two wins, two defeats and a draw in their five friendly matches.
Panathinaikos had the more complete preseason of the two teams and finished things off with a 3-1 away win over Westerlo.
As for Rangers, a come-from-behind 2-2 home draw with Club Brugge is the only warm up new manager Russell Martin will get with his team ahead of this crucial UCL encounter.
The former Southampton boss will be banking on his side's excellent form at the Ibrox to help push his team over the edge. Rangers posted 16 wins, four draws and five defeats in the 2024-25 season in the Scottish Premiership and Europa League combined.
