High-flying Rangers will welcome Motherwell to Ibrox in their next Premiership game on Saturday. Rangers, leading the league standings, hope to open a five-point gap while Motherwell are looking to rise into the top half. The hosts march into this game having won 23 of their 28 matches so far in the league. They have 70 points, two ahead of their closest challengers for the title, Celtic. In their last outing, Rangers survived a first half scare with quickfire second half goals to beat Kilmarnock 2-1. Daniel Armstrong scored early for the hosts but James Tavernier and Tom Lawrence scored twice in four minutes for Rangers to take control. After that scare, Rangers will want to do their job early enough here, coming into this game with 10 straight wins. They have a good scoring run too, netting 15 times in their last five matches. In this game, Rangers will be eyeing a seventh straight win over Motherwell. The reverse fixture ended 2-0 in Rangers’ favor with goals from Kieran Dowell and Todd Cantwell.

Motherwell, like Rangers, also came from a goal down to claim three points courtesy of a second half comeback, in their last game. They were remarkable in their 3-1 win away to Livingston who had an early goal through Tete Yengi. Sam Nicholson, Blair Spittal and Jack Vale netted in the second half to turn the game around. In their fifth away game in six, Motherwell have a tough assignment, taking on a side they’ve failed to beat in 19 meetings. Their last win over Rangers dates back to 2017, in the League Cup. Meanwhile, the win on Livingston was their first in five matches. Before that win, they had lost 3-1 to second placed Celtic, who will be hoping they stall Rangers here. That may however prove problematic, looking at Motherwell’s performances in defence. They have conceded in each of their last five matches and in four of them, two or more goals. The visitors take to this game just one clean sheet in 12 matches.
