Portugal vs Ireland Prediction & Betting Tips - International Friendlies
by Steve Ashfield in Football Predictions
After a 2-1 home loss to Croatia, Portugal play their final Euro 2024 warm-up game at home to Ireland. The loss to Croatia was their second in three matches and they'll be wanting a better result before heading off to Germany. Ireland aren't in the Euro 2024 finals and ended a poor run with a 2-1 home win over Hungary on June 4th. They'll be looking to build on that as they prepare for their Naions League games later in the year.

Portugal - Ireland: Form Analysis
Portugal look to bounce back from Saturday's 2-1 home loss to Croatia. They left players such as Ronaldo, Jota, Neto and Neves on the bench for that game so not too much should be read into the defeat. That was their first home loss since being beaten by Spain in the Nations League two years ago. Their previous match had seen the Portuguese side beat Finland 4-2 at home. They led 3-0 in that match before Pukki came on as sub and scored twice. A late goal by Bruno Fernandes (his second of the game) ensured a home win for Portugal. That was their eighth straight home win and they'll want to get back on track here.
Ireland had gone four games without a win before beating Hungary 2-1 at home on Tuesday. They had a terrible Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, finishing fifth in their group. Their only two wins came against San Marino with the other six matches against France, the Netherlands and Greece all being lost. Before beating Hungary, their last victory had been against Gibraltar. It was nearly another game without a win for the Irish side as they needed a 92nd minute goal to get the win. On the road, Ireland have lost five of their last eight games, the only other win being over Malta. They have only managed to score more than once in one of those eight matches.
