Stuck in the bottom half of the 2024-25 Championship campaign, Portsmouth will face an uphill battle to improve their form as West Brom come to town. This match #5 of the season will be played at Fratton Park on Sunday, with our prediction favoring a win for the visitors.

Portsmouth is closer to the bottom-three after four matches, with their lone point helping them stay 18th. The visitors, meanwhile, are second in the standings with ten points and two behind leaders Sunderland. Portsmouth have lost only once in their four league matches so far, but worryingly, that has come in their most recent match.

West Brom are one of the few sides to remain unbeaten going into the international break. They won three matches this season, with two of those coming in a row. They haven’t quite set the ball rolling in terms of attacking flavor, but with only two goals conceded, they are proving to be a tough side to face.

The visitors haven’t played Portsmouth in any competition since 2009, so there’s not much history between the teams. West Brom will hope they can continue their impressive start to their away campaign, having won 3-1 against Queens Park Rangers and 2-1 against Stoke.

The visitors have won both their away matches this league campaign, but will be wary that they had three defeats in a row prior to that. Can the Baggies post a third win on the trot away from home?
