Porto plays host to Maritimo in this opening round match in the Portuguese Primera Division. The home team completed the domestic treble in their last match as they won the Portuguese Super Cup 3-0 to add to the League and Cup titles. Porto won the league by a comfortable six point margin last season and continued where they left off by winning their pre-season games and then beating Tondela in the Super Cup. They will be confident coming into this match as they have only lost once in 13 matches against Maritimo. Porto overall recent record across all competitions is excellent as they have only lost once in their last 15 matches with 13 wins and a draw. Their home record is just as impressive as they have won their last nine matches.

Maritimo could not have had a more difficult match first up in the league as they look to improve on their tenth place finish from last season. They closed off their season without a win in their last four matches which effectively ended any hopes of European qualification.
