Peyton Stearns will seek a second victory over fellow unseeded player Viktoriya Tomova when they clash in the semis in Rabat. Heading into the penultimate round, Stearns is having her best performance at a tour-level event this year. Before arriving in Rabat for her second appearance, the American had not progressed past the second round at a tour tournament. She has now surpassed her quarter-final finish here last year and is one win away from a second career tour final. Stearns, who is up to 79th in the live ranking, defeated fourth seed Lucia Bronzetti in the last round. She won in three sets to claim her 10th win this year and seventh on clay. The 22-year-old defeated Tomova on hard court at the US Open last year.

Viktoriya Tomova has advanced to only the second tour-level semi-final of her career. The Bulgarian was a semi-finalist at the Copa Colsanitas in 2021 and will be hoping to finally get over the hump this year. Tomova, who is yet to lose a set in her debut campaign here, outdueled Laura Siegemund by the loss of seven games in the quarters. The win allowed her to improve her record to 16-17 and move 10 places to 74th in the live ranking. Tomova has featured mainly this year at tour events. Her best finish before her run to the semi-finals was a quarter-final result in Hobart. The 29-year-old favours playing on clay and has won almost 150 matches on the surface in her career. It is the only surface that she has won at least 100 matches. The winner from this encounter will play Kamilla Rakhimova or Mayar Sherif in the final.
