Peterborough vs Sheffield Wednesday Prediction & Betting Tips - League One

English League One has reached the promotion play-off stage. Sixth placed Peterborough United host Sheffield Wednesday who ended the main season in third place. The winners take on either Bolton or Barnsley for a place in the Championship next season. Peterborough snatched sixth from Derby County in the final game of the main season. They won 2-0 at Barnsley but Derby County lost at Sheffield Wednesday to drop out of the play-off places. Hopefully Peterborough will thank Wednesday for that. Good end of season form can often pay off when the play-offs arrive. Peterborough looked like missing out on a top six finish but then earned four points from their final two games to qualify. Home form this season has seen them get 13 league wins with only one of the last five being lost and that was to Ipswich who finished second in League One and have been promoted. Back in August 2022, they beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 at home and a repeat of that would boost their promotion hopes.

Sheffield Wednesday looked as if they were goin to win automatic promotion back to the Championship. A long unbeaten run took them to the top of the table and they knocked Newcastle United out of the FA Cup. Then they hit a rocky patch with just four points from six league games. They rallied and won their final four league games but still ended up two points behind second placed Ipswich Town. Wednesday won 12 away league games but went five without a win before victories at Bristol Rovers and Shrewsbury who both had poor ends to their season. This is a lot tougher and the tip is for Peterborough to get the win here.
