Pavel Kotov vs Alexander Bublik Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Lyon Open

Second seed Alexander Bublik will play the unseeded Pavel Kotov in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Lyon Open. A semi-final showdown with Yoshihito Nishioka, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, Hugo Gaston or Francisco Cerundolo will await the winner. Pavel Kotov has been in good form in his debut here and has won both his matches without losing a set. He defeated crowd favourite Alexandre Muller by the loss of seven games in the last round. The first set saw the Russian require a tiebreaker but in the second he was more decisive and allowed Muller just one game. His eighth win in 12 outings on clay improved his record for the season to 12-10. A semi-finalist in Marrakech earlier in the season, Kotov has set a new personal world record by advancing to this round. He is up two places in the live ranking to 55th.

Alexander Bublik defeated Kotov the only other time they were paired up against one another. This was back in 2019 in the challenger circuit in Budapest. Bublik went on to win that tournament and he will be hoping for a similar trajectory here. The Kazakh, who has struggled with his form in recent weeks, defeated Aleksandar Vukic 2-0 in the first round. He relinquished six games as he earned his third win on clay. Bublik, who has lost six times in his last 10 fixtures, isn’t a strong clay court performer. In the previous six seasons, he has compiled a losing record on the surface and this season has lost half of six matches on clay. The world number 19 had a tremendous start to the year, winning the title in Montpellier and finishing as runner-up in Dubai. He also had a semi-final run in Adelaide and will be looking to get back to this form.
