Alejandro Tabilo bids to continue his good start to 2024. In the first round of the Indian Wells tournament the Chilean faces Pavel Kotov. The prize for the winner is a second round match against the 12th seed Taylor Fritz. This is an outdoor hard court ATP 1000 Masters event, so plenty of ranking points are on offer. Tabilo has been steadily climbing the rankings this year. He was 82nd at the start of the year but a career high 39th in the latest ranking list. Tabilo won the hard court tournament held in Auckland two months ago. and last week lost in the final of the clay court Chilean Open. He'll be aiming to move up the rankings even further and be seeded for Roland Garros. He's currently 15th in the Live ATP Race after his impressive performances so far this year.

Pavel Kotov is 67th in the latest ranking list, six behind the career high he set in January of this year. He made a good start to 2024 with a run to the last eight in Hong Kong with a win over Lorenzo Musetti. He's been inconsistent since then though and has failed to get past the last 16 of any tournament, all played on hard courts. His most recent tournment saw him lose to Sebastian Korda in the first round of the Dubai Tennis Championships winning just two games. We tip the more consistent Tabilo to win this match.
