The quarter-finals of the Scottish League Cup will draw to a close on Sunday when Partick Thistle host Celtic at Firhill Stadium. The Jags have never won this competition, while the Hoops are the defending champions. Let’s get into the match prediction.

Partick Thistle will be making just their second quarter-final appearance in the last six editions of the Scottish League Cup this weekend, but they face the toughest task in the land. 

The Jags finished top of Group B during qualifying with four wins in four matches and earned their spot in the last eight by beating Ayr United 2-0 at home in the second round last month. 

The hosts enter this match riding a four-match win streak and unbeaten in five, but have failed to beat their Glasgow rivals in 33 games dating back to 1995. 

Meanwhile, Celtic beat Rangers in a marathon penalty shootout to win this competition last season and are now aiming for an eighth title in the last 10 editions. 

The Bhoys kicked off their title defence with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Falkirk in the last round and have yet to taste defeat in domestic competition in 2025-26. 

The visitors beat Kilmarnock 2-1 on the road in their last match and have not lost a competitive away match in regulation time since the start of April against St Johnstone.
