Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid will come into this match brimming with confidence. They beat Real Madrid 3-1 at home last week, taking them to 10 points, and they do have a game in hand on the sides above them. That solitary loss came against Valencia directly after the international break, though they did beat Rayo Vallecano 7-0 one match earlier. Los Colchoneros got their Champions League campaign started with a 1-1 draw against Lazio last week. Diego Simeone’s side will play three games in the space of a week, which could mean the manager may consider rotating a few of his players in this one. Atletico have won each of the last ten matches against this opponent and have only conceded two goals in that time.
