A return to winning ways in La Liga will be the agenda for both Osasuna and Alaves when they meet on Monday. Hosts Osasuna are going into this game sitting 11th, a place above Alaves, and four points more. A 1-1 draw with Las Palmas in their last outing left Osasuna on 33 points. That result denied them a third straight win, with Osasuna dropping points from a winning position. This game gives them a chance to address that. They’ve not only been good at home in recent times, but also dominated meetings with Alaves. In their last four league meetings with Alaves, Osasuna have emerged winners. They have also won four of their last five home league matches ahead of this. Ante Budimir has been their main man in recent times but he may miss this game. The Croat, with three goals in the last three matches, was withdrawn late in their draw with Las Palmas.

Alaves will be happy not to deal with Budimir, one of the scorers in their 2-0 loss in the reverse fixture in October. Budimir was also the lone scorer in Alaves’ last visit to Osasuna in April 2022. Alaves come into this game having failed to win any of their last four matches, drawing three. A 1-1 draw with Mallorca last time out left them on 29 points, 11 ahead of the relegation zone. They look like they will achieve the survival target but come into this game as the underdogs. Their head to head record against Osasuna isn’t great, and neither is their away run in the league. The recent away wins over Almeria and Sevilla are all Alaves have to show for their last 28 league games on the road. In two of their last three matches, Alaves scored first but failed to hold on, both ending in draws. They will want to do better in their defensive department here.
