The final match in the South African PSL this Saturday will see Orlando Pirates taking on Richards Bay at the Orlando Stadium. The hosts are currently in third place in the league standing, while the visitors are second-bottom. After a very slow start to the season, Orlando Pirates found their stride after the Africa Cup of Nations at the start of the year and are now in contention for CAF Champions League qualification. They come into this weekend’s fixtures following a solid 2-0 win over Chippa United last week, marking their seventh consecutive victory in all competitions and eighth match unbeaten. That win took the Buccaneers to 49 points after 27 matches and saw them pull within a single point of second-placed Stellenbosch, who dropped points at home to AmaZulu last week. In their home matches this season, the Pirates have secured nine wins, two draws, and two losses. They are on a four-match winning streak on the road and unbeaten in five. These sides played out a goalless draw in the reverse fixture, but the hosts are the clear favourites in this one. 

Meanwhile, after surviving the drop by three points in their first season back in the top flight last term, Richards Bay are in genuine danger of returning to the second tier this season. They are currently sat in the sole relegation playoff spot with 24 points, five points from safety, with three games left to play. However, the Natal Rich Boys have shown in recent weeks that they are not going to throw in the towel just yet. Over their last five games, Richards Bay have managed three wins, one draw and just one loss, meaning that almost half their points this season came during this period. The problem, though, has been their away record, which reads as one win, three draws, and nine losses in 13 games. The visitors are currently on a ten-match winless run on the road and have failed to score in their last three away from home. If Swallows and Royal AM win their matches this week and Richards Bay lose theirs, Richards Bay will be guaranteed to end the season in the bottom two.
