The 2025-26 NBA season is here, and we kick off the campaign with a blockbuster, as the Oklahoma City Thunder prepare to take on the Houston Rockets on Tuesday. OKC are the defending champion, while the Rockets finished second in the Western Conference. Check out our match prediction below!
What a season it was for the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2024-25! They won 68 games in the regular season - the best record in the franchise’s history - before beating the Pacers in the NBA Finals.
The Thunder will once again be led by reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who led the league with 32.7 PPG. Notably, Jalen Williams is likely to miss a few games in the early-season through injury.
OKC ended last season 35-6 at home and with nine wins in their final 10 games. They also beat the Rockets in three of their five encounters.
Meanwhile, despite bowing out of the Playoffs in the first round to the Warriors, last season was still the best the Houston Rockets had managed in their last six, and also ended their four-year Playoff drought.
Much of the Rockets’ success was due to their excellent defence that allowed teams just 109.8 PPG. However, they bolstered their attack significantly in the offseason by securing the signature of Kevin Durant.
KD is their eighth-highest scorer in the NBA’s history, and he will be crucial in the early stages of the season, with Jalen Williams expected to miss games due to a hamstring issue.
