Novak Djokovic takes on Andy Murray in the third round of the Madrid Masters.Top seeded Djokovic has confirmed he'll end the tournament as the world number one by reaching this stage in Madrid. He's won this title on three previous occasions, including the last time he played in 2019. Reaching the final at the weekend would be the 125th ATP Tour title decider of his career. Djokovic is yet to win a title this year though and has only reached one final in 2022. That was in the recent Serbia Open in Belgrade. Djokovic lost to Andrey Rublev in the clay court tournament. This week has so far seen Djokovic beat unseeded Gael Monfils for the loss of just five games. This is his 37th match against Murray and he has a commanding 25-11 lead. They last met five years ago and on clay, Djokovic has a 5-1 lead.

Andy Murray continues to climb back up the rankings. He began this week in 78th position but is up to 67th in the live rankings. In terms of ranking points earned this year, he's up to 39th which actually has him 30 places above his opponent but he has played more tournaments. Murray reached the final in Sydney in January but since then has failed to get past the last 16 of any event. This is his first clay court event of the year and he's had two good wins this week. He beat Dominic Thiem in the first round and then the 14th seed Denis Shapovalov in round two. His last win over a top ten ranked player was against Jannik Sinner last November. This is tougher though and the tip is for Djokovic to win in straight sets.
