Newcastle United returned to winning ways with a 2-1 home win over Wolves last Sunday. That ended a run of five league and cup games without a victory. United had only earned three points from their previous five league fixtures. They badly need an away league win with three successive draws before losing at Manchester City. United did draw at Arsenal but games like Bournemouth and Palace should have been won if they want Champions League football. Newcastle have won only four away league fixtures this season but only lost two. The reverse fixture against Forest was played on the first weekend of the season with United winning 2-0.

Nottingham Forest have earned 20 points from their 13 home league matches. It's a good job they have relatively decent home form because only six away points have been earned this season.  Last weekend saw them lose 3-1 at Tottenham and have no wins in their last five league fixtures. That's disappointing after a run of five games unbeaten before this poor run of form. Forest are unbeaten in their last nine league games and four of those have been won. They beat Liverpool at home and even held Manchester City to a draw but their recent form is a worry.
