Unseeded Jack Draper bids to reach the Miami Open third round for the first time. He takes on the 22nd seed Nicolas Jarry with the winner facing either 12th seed Taylor Fritz or qualifier Thiago Seyboth Wild in round three. Draper was ranked 42nd in the world at the start of this Masters tournament. His career high is 37th achieved at the start of this month. His first round win over Taro Daniel (losing only five games) saw him move up to 38th and a win over Jarry will set a new career high. The British player recently reached the last four in the outdoor hard court event held in Acapulco and beat Tommy Paul in that tournament. He was one set all with Alex de Minaur in the semi-final but retired when 4-0 down in the third. This year began with him getting to the final in Adelaide, again on an outdoor hard court.

Nicolas Jarry is the world number 23 but was as high as 18th in January. The Chilean reached the third round in Adelaide but lost to Flavio Coboli in his opening match in the Australian Open. He then returned to South America for their clay court season getting to the final in Buenos Aires and the last eight of the Chile Open. Back on hard courts he was beaten in his first match at Indian Wells. The first set was won against Fabian Marozsan but he then only won nine games in the next two sets. This will be tough for him and we tip Draper to beat the seeded player.
