Nick Kyrgios vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Prediction & Betting Tips - Wimbledon Qualification, England
by Steve Ashfield | in ATP Wimbledon Championships Prediction
Fourth seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas bids to reach the fourth round at Wimbledon for only the second time in his career. He takes on the unseeded Australian (but with a Greek father), Nick Kyrgios. Tsitsipas has had four previous visits to Wimbledon and been knocked out in the first round in three of them. The other saw him get to the fourth round in 2018. He’s had another good year on clay and retained the Monte Carlo Masters. Finals have also been reached this year on clay in Rome and in a Rotterdam indoor hard court event. He also won a grass court tournament in Mallorca beating Roberto Bautista Agut in the final. Then he lost to Krygios in Halle and in the quarter finals in Stuttgart to Andy Murray. So far at Wimbledon, he’s beaten Alexander Ritschard in four sets and Jordan Thompson in three. This is far tougher against a player he’s lost to in three of their four previous meetings.
What kind of mood will Kyrgios be in this match? That’s always important for this unpredictable and volatile player who can quickly see his temper rise. He’s world ranked 40th but was 13th six years ago. The Australian hasn’t played too many tournaments this year but those he has taken part in have seen some very good results. He got to the quarter finals at Indian Wells and the last four in Houston. His grass court season has seen him reach the semi-finals in both Stuttgart and Halle. It might have been a fourth successive last four appearance but after getting to the last 16 in Mallorca, he withdrew from the tournament. Kyrgios got to the last eight here in 2014 but hasn’t got past this third round stage since 2016. This year has seen him defeat Paul Jubb in five sets (his temper rose in that match for sure) and then a win over Filip Krajinovic for the loss of just six games. If he can keep his cool, Kyrgios can win this against an opponent nowhere near as comfortable on grass as the Australian. A bet on a tie-break is also a good idea. The pair once played a match in the 2021 ATP Cup when all three sets went that way.
