The first of Match Week 25 action in the French Ligue 1 will have Nice hosting Montpellier on Friday. A poor run in recent matches has seen Nice slip out of the top four while Montpellier sit in the relegation playoff position. While they have no win in the last two home league games, Nice have won seven of their last 10.

As Nice hope for three points to boost their quest for continental football, Montpellier need them for their survival race. Their run in this fixture will however come as a disadvantage. They’ve lost in six of seven away matches against Nice. In Montpellier’s last match away to Nice, they lost 6-1. That was one of the four times Montpellier have conceded three or more in matches against Nice. Heading into this game, they have one win in their last seven matches. That win was against the struggling Metz and they’ll want to beat a stronger side. Right ahead of this game, Montpellier twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Strasbourg. Arnaud Nordin’s 87th minute goal leveled matters, taking them to within a point of the safe zone. That was however another game that showed their defensive shortcomings. Montpellier have conceded two or more in four of their last five matches. A poor run defensively is also to blame for Montpellier’s four losses in five away league matches.
