The Newcastle Jets will play host to Sydney FC at the McDonald Jones Stadium in the A-League on Saturday. The Jets and the Sky Blues are third and fourth in the league standings, respectively, after the first two games. Let’s get into the match prediction!

After defeating Heidelberg United to win the Australian Cup, the Newcastle Jets have had a decent start to the season, splitting their first two games, one win and one loss. 

Their defeat came on opening week against the Mariners, but they bounced back with a stunning 5-2 victory over Melbourne Victory last weekend. The Jets are the highest-scoring team in the division after two rounds (7). 

That victory over the Big V would also have given them a huge boost of confidence, as it was their first home game of the season. They only managed three wins at McDonald Jones Stadium in the top-flight last term.

Meanwhile, Sydney FC’s season has begun in exactly the same way as their upcoming opponents, albeit they have only scored three goals so far. 

After losing to Adelaide United on Matchday 1, the Sky Blues beat the Mariners 2-0 at home last week, courtesy of goals by Victor Campuzano and substitute Patrick Wood. 

However, the visitors now need to get back to winning ways on the road, where they have lost their last three league games and conceded a combined tally of eight goals in that period.
