Newcastle thumped Union St Gilloise 4-0 away from home in this week’s Champions League fixture. It was their second win in three competitive games (W2, L1), giving hope of turning the season around.
That said, league form is still a challenge for the Magpies. They were beaten 2-1 at home by Arsenal last weekend, although the winner came late to stun Newcastle. That defeat forms part of two defeats in their three home league games this season.

Forest endured a difficult midweek European experience, losing 3-2 at home to Midtjylland in the Europa League. That result continued their poor recent record, seeing them lose five and draw three of their last eight competitive games.

Newcastle are likely to stick to their tried and tested 4-3-3 formation with Nick Woltemade playing in the central striker position. The German youngster scored in his last two matches and will be keen to continue that momentum.
It would be the midfield mastery of Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes, and Joelinton that could decide Newcastle’s fate. Tonali’s 309 attempted passes are the most by any Magpie player, while Guimaraes’ passing percentage (82.3) is among the best for the club. On the injury front, Tino Livramento is out for nearly eight weeks, while Jacob Ramsey is also out of contention.
