New York Red Bulls will in their next Major League Soccer match this Sunday play host to Atlanta United. The two teams are separated by nine points coming into this weekend with United fifth in the Eastern Conference and New York 13th. New York Red Bulls are languishing in the bottom three places in the East and are the 25th-worst team across both conferences. They have won just four of the 18 matches they have played with another six ending in draws. This has left them three points adrift of the playoff places. Troy Lesesne’s charges drew 2-2 with Charlotte in their last match and are now without a win in two. This will be their third game in a row at home, in the first, they were humbled 3-0 by Orlando City. The Metros have won only one of their last five games. They have however won two of the last three matches against Atlanta.

Atlanta United won the reverse fixture in April to end a nine-match run without a win in this fixture. They will seek to start a streak of their own against Sunday’s hosts and take advantage of their struggles this season. Gonzalo Pineda’s men have also found it hard to win matches and have managed only two victories in the last seven games. They have however proven difficult to beat with the other five matches ending in a share of the spoils. The Five Stripes drew 2-2 with New York City at home last time out. A result that left them with 29 points which is only two points above the wildcard playoff places.
