New England will hope to get their MLS campaign running with a win at home to Chicago Fire this Saturday. A poor start has New England placed bottom of the Eastern Conference heading into this game while Chicago Fire are 10th. In their last outing, goals from Yuya Kubo and Luis Acosta condemned New England to their fourth defeat in the league. Giacomo Vrioni pulled one back for New England but in the end it was just a consolation in a 2-1 loss. That happened to be their third straight winless outing. Despite their poor MLS run, New England have somehow found a route to the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinals. It is this run they’d love to carry to domestic action and defending better should be the first step. In their four league matches, New England have conceded 10 times. They’ve shown great signs in attack though, failing to score in just one of their four league matches.

Chicago Fire didn’t have a great start to the season either, but will come here on a much stronger footing. After picking up one point in their opening three matches, the visitors finally bagged a win in their last outing. Chicago Fire came from 3-1 down to beat Montreal 4-3 in their last outing, leaving it late to bag the three points. Three goals in the final six minutes plus additional minutes were all Chicago needed to register their first win of the season. This was the second time in the season that they managed more than a goal and will surely motivate them going into Match Day 5. An area to improve on is however their defence, having failed to keep a clean sheet so far in the season. While they have scored in each of their four matches so far, Chicago Fire have also conceded in all. They’ve let in two or more goals per game in the opening four matches. That means they have just two clean sheets in 15 league matches.
