Spain face the Netherlands in the last eight of the 2024 Davis Cup finals. It's a match that is going to be dominated by the presence of Rafael Nadal who is playing his final tournament before retiring. Here's our match prediction.
Nadal is part of a Spanish squad that also includes Carlos Alcaraz, Roberto Bautista Agut, Pedro Martinez and doubles specialist Marcel Granollers. The Netherlands have Botic van de Zandschulp, Tallon Griekspoor, Jesper de Jong and world number eight doubles player Wesley Koolhof.
The winner of this match goes into the semi-finals against either Germany or Canada. There are two singles matches and if needed a doubles match. Kicking off the match is scheduled to be Rafael Nadal against Botic van de Zandschulp. Van de Zandschulp has never beaten Nadal and has lost his last two Davis Cup matches.
If Nadal isn't fit enough to play, Roberto Bautista Agut will take his place and he won both his singles in the group stages.Next up will be Carlos Alcaraz against Tallon Griekspoor. Alcaraz recently won the Shanghai Masters but had early exits in Paris and Turin. He has faced Griekspoor on four previous occasions, winning them all.
We believe the Spanish team can win the two singles matches and make their way into the last four.

Our Netherlands vs Spain Prediction
Spain go into this Davis Cup finals tournament hoping the imminent Nadal retirement doesn't take over. They need to concentrate on the matches ahead of them as this is a team tournament. It's kind of similar to the Olympics where the emphasis seemed to be on 'is this the last Andy Murray match?'
The Spaniards have the stronger squad and neither of the Dutch singles players are in the best of form at present. They only finished second in their group behind Italy. Our Netherlands v Spain prediction is Spain to win.
