Nashville will seek to strengthen their hold of second place in the MLS when they host 10th placed Columbus Crew. The two sides featuring in the Eastern Conference are seven points apart and are both coming from defeats. Nashville had their eight-game unbeaten run stopped in their 2-1 loss to Inter Miami in the US Open Cup. With six wins in their last nine matches, there is a feeling they will be confident enough to bounce back. Nashville’s recent league run reads four wins in five matches, but it is their defence they will need to work on. They have just one clean sheet in the last seven league matches. In the last 10 league matches, they have failed to score in just two. At home, Nashville have managed three straight wins, and are unbeaten in five.

Columbus Crew are coming from a 1-0 defeat at Pittsburgh Riverhounds in the US Open Cup. That was their second straight defeat after earlier falling 3-2 to Cincinnati in the MLS. They are also not doing well defensively as they approach this game. In the last five matches Columbus Crew have one clean sheet. Twice in their last four matches, they’ve conceded two or more goals but they’ve only failed to score once in five. Columbus have lost three of their last four away matches and in two of the four games, they also failed to score. With just one clan sheet in the last five away matches, Columbus will not go into this game on a very strong footing. It doesn’t help either, that they have no win in their last three meetings with Nashville.
